Losing Breast Not Always Best for Cancer Patients - Cancer - FOXNews.com

Losing Breast Not Always Best for Cancer Patients - Cancer - FOXNews.com

Wow! What a tagline, how misleading, how inappropriate...but that is Fox News. The whole issue does not seem bad at all when placed in the proper context, but the inference that losing one's breast is not always the best decision strikes me as Fox News pandering to a woman's self-esteem. A woman and her breasts are linked with life nourishment through the mother/child dynamic. To suggest that she should choose to keep her breast in spite of the doctor's careful assessment of her condition reinforces fear and the old stereotype that a woman's self-worth is in her body, not her mind.
